Cybertron! A wholly metallic planet populated by robotic beings given life and "Spark" by an energized Allspark of unknown origins. These sentient mechanoids existed in a state of peace that was ultimately shattered when one of their own sought to possess the Allspark for his own sinister purposes. As civil war overtook the planet, robots fought passionately on both sides, seeking to either protect or possess the life-giving Allspark. Now, all that stands between the malevolent Megatron and the Allspark is a cadre of six intrepid Autobots...
SUMMARY OF THE STORY:
The Autobots fight a desperate battle to protect the Allspark on one of Cybertrons once brilliant cities, Tyger Pax. There Bumblebee is given a secret mission by Optimus Prime himself. However the battle quickly escalates as the Decepticons army over powers the small team of Autobots consisting of such characters as Arcee, and Ratchet.
(Bumblebee and Crew plot on their next move as the Decepticons move in)
In a final gambit, Bumblebee
orders his team too shoot out the cieling above them in hopes of taking out some
of the Decepticons.
Sadly, his team are taken captive and interrogated by Megatron's army, some are killed off, then comes Bumblebee's turn as Megatron himself takes on the assignment on pressing the information out of the small Autobot.
(Megatron's Interrogation methods are worse then one could imagine)

Don Figueroa used to work for Dreamwave with Pat Lee taking over the Generation One comic series starting from Volume 3. However when things started to get good in the comic series, Dreamwave goes unexpectingly bankrupt. But thanks to IDW, Don Figueroa and many crew members from Dreamwave were signed on to continue their works for Transformers.
Don Figueroa's latest work before the movie prequel comic series was Transformers: The Movie adaptation for the 20th Anniversary. DVD that came out in November of 2006 by Sony BGM.
This time we're given a different perspective on what the Transformers would look like for the first time in the live action movie. The designs are interesting, truly mechanoid and alien in nature, in a way an organic like feel but clearly that of machine.
The new art form of the Transformers is a welcomed change to the genre, but takes some use too on identifying some of the characters.
This is a great backdrop to know what's happening, how did this war begin? Why is Megatron so hell bent on destroying his own world for this Allspark? What powers does it hold over the Transformers race and Cybertron?
If the movie is anywhere near as good as the 4 part mini series comic now out, then I can say we could be in for a good movie.
This comic will set ya back 3.99 plus tax in the states, more elsewhere. however for the amount of reading, and beautiful artwork by Mr. Figueroa himself, this is indeed worth the 3.99 for something that could possibly a fan boys wet dream come true.
On a scale from 1-10
In conclusion, the first issue is worth getting, and with the final issue coming out in May before the movie, this is a great way of wasting your time until July.
